This presentation will examine inclusive strategies for detecting and monitoring eating disorder symptoms and body image concerns when working with diverse populations. Strengths and limitations inherent in traditional assessment methods and tools (e.g., the Eating Disorder Examination) will be addressed and more individualized approaches to assessment that incorporate racial/ethnic identity, weight/body size, and gender-related considerations will be introduced. Emphasizing practical adaptations, the session will provide attendees with insights on tailoring assessments to advance equity and improve the detection and treatment of eating disorders to better serve marginalized groups. The overarching goal is to equip professionals with the tools necessary to provide more inclusive and effective care.
