Cheryl is a dedicated and experienced mental health professional specializing in forensics and the treatment of eating disorders, substance abuse, trauma, OCD, and family therapy. With a robust career spanning over two decades, she has made significant contributions to the mental health field through clinical practice, supervision, and leadership roles working in corrections, psychiatric hospital, community mental health center, and residential treatment settings. She entered the eating disorder field at the recommendation of a trusted friend and colleague in 2018 and developed a strong drive for working with individuals diagnosed with eating disorders.
In July 2022, Cheryl joined Within, as a Senior Therapist. In this capacity, she supervises primary therapists, leads staff meetings, and spearheads the Substance Use Task Force. Drawing on her experience, she has prioritized the importance of holding space for clients who may have lived experience with substance use disorder to access necessary support while getting eating disorder treatment.
Throughout her career, Cheryl has been committed to integrating her knowledge of the eating disorder field into developing skills for other clinicians and supervising them to provide the best care possible. She has a strong background in crisis intervention, risk assessment, staff training, case management, and leadership. Her expertise in group therapy, individual and family counseling, and forensic/corrections has enabled her to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those seeking treatment. Cheryl is passionate about continuing her professional development and clinical excellence, ensuring she remains at the forefront of the mental health field, providing compassionate and effective care to her clients.
But it isn’t all work for Cheryl. In her free time, she loves spending time outdoors especially by the water, playing video games with friends, and engaging in any activities that involve animals.
