The Within results

Within is leading the way by utilizing an evidence-based practice approach and measurement-based care model to ensure highly personalized, effective treatment experiences. We are able to improve outcomes and support our patients on their unique journeys toward recovery by combining the extensive expertise of our clinical team with research-backed treatments designed to address eating disorders and co-occurring symptoms.

Our results speak for themselves—meaningful and lasting outcomes for our patients and their families.

Our results speak for themselves

We use validated patient-reported outcome measures to track patient progress and evaluate our treatment programs as a whole. Our data shows that, on average, our patients experience significant improvements in symptoms and functioning by the time they are discharged from the Within treatment program. These changes are substantial, demonstrating treatment effects comparable to in-person treatment programs.

40%
decrease in eating disorder symptoms
This reduction signifies a positive shift in thought patterns and behaviors related to eating, shape, and weight. Our patients discover freedom from constant food and body concerns and spend less time engaging in disordered eating behaviors when their scores drop below this threshold.
PHQ-9
40%
decrease in depressive symptoms
An alleviation of depressive symptoms translates to improved mood, better concentration, and renewed energy through participation in our program. By discharge, typical patients can expect to leave our care with no more than mild depressive symptoms.
EDQOL
40%
improvement in quality of life
Our patients experience enhanced quality of life across psychological, physical, cognitive, financial, and work/school domains as the impact of the eating disorder declines throughout treatment. Scores below the norm for impairment are a testament to our program’s mission to integrate treatment into their lives rather than removing them from what they care about most.

Lower score = Better quality of life*
70%
of patients are below the clinical range for ED and depression
After participating in our treatment program, most eating disorder and depressive symptoms are in at least partial remission—a critical step in the healing process.

Intuitive eating score improves
by discharge

Patients grant themselves permission to eat and respond to cues from their bodies as they build intuitive eating skills throughout treatment. Scores above the clinical range mean they are on their way to establishing a nurturing relationship with food and listening to their bodies.

4.6/5 rating for overall satisfaction with the care provided by Within Health

“Within’s groundbreaking and innovative eating disorder treatment program provides every body, everywhere, access to comprehensive, measurement-based care. Our outcomes demonstrate that remote care can be equally effective and, in some cases, superior to traditional brick-and-mortar care for some patients. I’m so grateful to our entire team and the outstanding results we are seeing.”

"My dietitian was always there for me. When I started the program, I was anxious and uncomfortable, but my dietitian made sure my comfort was always the first priority. I probably would have quit programming at the start if not for him."

"In addition to the individualized attention I received on a daily basis, Within Health also integrated perfectly into my real life. I was able to schedule programming, receive support around working a full-time job, and re-integrate myself into society. No other program has done that for me, and I think that is what makes Within truly unique."

"The individualized attention and treatment plan make Within Health stand out from every other place I've been. From three individual therapy sessions a week to weekly dietitian sessions, nursing sessions, and care partner sessions, I was able to make some headway into my own personal issues with my eating disorder and really work on my personal recovery."

"I think alumni group is extremely important because many people unfortunately have to discontinue therapy too soon due to the expense, therefore if they have unresolved issues to discuss, this is the place they can get that ongoing support!"

“We knew we could build a platform to treat people in their homes, but what we didn’t anticipate was how powerful it would be to extend recovery and support into someone’s space, work with them through the triggers in their own environment, and how powerful it would be to tap into their support system and teach them about sustaining recovery.”
