Dr. Angelou is my “shero” and an exemplification of divine wisdom. As a lifelong learner, no matter how much I think I know or think I have been through, there’s always an opportunity to learn more about people, the world and myself.
“Always leave people, places and things better than you found them,” my mother and grandmother advise. They are my Original Sheroes.
Growing up in Detroit, Michigan (Motown) U.S.A., exhilarating music, diverse culture and beautiful, creative people always surrounded me. My beloved first and best friends, Georgia, my grandmother and Joyce, my mother, taught me by word and example to enthusiastically engage life, to compassionately contribute to my community and to always strive to be a force for good in the world. 2022 marks the 10th year of BagLady Ministries (BLM), our endeavor to give bags of food and necessities to Detroit's homeless men, women and children. BLM is inspired and in tribute to the life of my dear grandmother Georgia, who raised my mother and many other foster children, transforming their lives in blessed, miraculous, and amazing ways. We would not be here if not for her compassionate, generous and loving heart.
As a "Creative", I communicate through a myriad of different forms of expression; painting, writing, singing, speaking, photography, performing, etc. Hours can melt into an instant while out shooting pictures of regal trees of infinite hues during the deliciously diverse seasons we enjoy in Michigan, “The Mitten State”.
Today, I draw from my passion, my experience and my education to give back by setting my daily intention to show up ready to serve and add worth to life by example. My mistakes teach me Lessons and my successes keep me grateful for life's Blessings. If any leg of my Journey can help another soul make-it-through-just-one-more-day...it adds real meaning and purpose to the Journey.
